Your Questions About Vacation Rentals By Owner

Mary asks…
Anyone used VRBO or Vacation Rentals By Owner??
Has anyone used Vacation Rentals By Owner very often and if so, what was your experience?
I am thinking about going through them to find a villa to stay in (one in France, one in Italy and one in Greece.

Emil answers:
Yeah. I prefer a different company. I can get you the best deal with a 110% rate guarantee! With thousands of choices! Contact me on megpcp3 on yahoo!

Paul asks…
Can you negotiate “Vacation Rentals by Owner” Property prices?
Can I talk an owner down on the price that they have set for a weekly vacation rental?

Emil answers:
You can always try-the worst that can happen is they say “no”; you might want to research what similar rentals are going for in the area–you may already have a bargain. If its a “hot” area as well, you may have no bargaining power–if there already are multiple potential renters. Good luck.

Charles asks…
Looking for vacation by owner rentals in Wine Country, CA., that can hold 100-125 guests for a wedding?
Looking for a wedding location in wine country that is not astronomically priced- hoping to spend approx. $10,000 on the event total. Does anyone know of any vacation rentals/B&B’s that could hold the event for this budget? (July/Aug. wedding, 100-125 guests).

Emil answers:
Check out vrbo.com. They have vaction rentals all different prices

William asks…
Vacation rentals by owner site are they good ?
I used www.vrcbc.com and saved a $100.00 a night off a condo in Destin.
http://www.vrcbc.com/vrcbc/index.htm

Emil answers:
If you saved $100 a night (wow!) by going to a vacation rentals by owner site, than I would say they are pretty good!

Sharon asks…
If you will be staying in a vacation rental by owners, what do you expect them to have?
If you are looking for a vacation rental owned by owners in the Philippines, what do you expect them to have?

Emil answers:
Unless stated I would expect beds and mattresses and pillows and a table with chairs.
But I know that many people will expect:
Linens, (can be charged extra for if mentioned,) a full kitchen outfit, with stove and pots and pans at least, microwave, kitchen knives and cutlery for table use, cups, plates, coffee maker and teapot.
Outside seating with chairs just for that.
Some rental owners offer to fill the fridge before arrival of the new guests as well as some basic foodstuff like breakfast cereals and rice, and herbs and spices. Of course the guests pay for this service.

George asks…
vacation rentals by owners.com, vrbo.com?
So, a friend rented a house through vrbo.com. She send a check for $2500, and it was a total scam. They took her money (the owner of the house), and vrbo.com says they are not reliable. But if they advertise owners, they should check them and make sure they are legitimate, right? Can she make a complain to any bureau or get at least partial payment back?

Emil answers:
I agree with you that they should be vetted better. All your friend can do is contact the owner, have her do so consistantly unitl she can get resolve. However since she sent a check she is out of luck on getting her money back from her bank.
My recommendation would be to use a credit card to utilize fraud protection as go through a reputable company for a time share like http://www.abetterstay.com where you go through a large company and not an individual who is not properly vetted.
You could also file a claim with the Better Business Bureau a, however this is probably a waste of time since it is one individual. Although it will send signs to VRBO.com to screen there properties more thoroughly.
Good luck to your friend.

Your Questions About Cancun Mexico Travel Tips

Michael asks…
Safety tips for traveling to Mexico (Oasis Cancun)?
My bf and I (along with 3 other couples) just booked an all-inclusive trip to the Oasis All-Inclusive in Cancun. I heard that you shouldn’t bring a laptop because the safes in the rooms aren’t big enough to hold one, and to keep all cash or valuables in the safe. I also heard that it takes longer at the airport when leaving Mexico than arriving.
Does anyone have any safety or common-knowledge tips for us? We’d really like to bring our laptops and I don’t know if we’ll venture off the resort. I’m not sure what clubs or nightlife is close and I want to be safe.
I already booked my flights and hotel, so telling me not to go isn’t an option. I am not asking anyone to tell me whether to go or not, I’m asking about travel safety and such. If you aren’t going to actually provide any useful information, then take your stupid answers elsewhere.
We are going the first week of June, not during a Spring Break time. We might run into kids on their senior trips, but we’re all in our mid-twenties so a few rowdy teens aren’t going to throw our vacation off.

Emil answers:
Hello, I feel safe walking down the street at all hours of the day or night. People freely carry laptops to work and take public transportation.
Number one safety tip…don’t listen to people that don’t live in the area because they don’t have a clue!
Number two – when you go to the very safe clubs in the Hotel Zone which cater to Americans, Canadians and Europeans as in any club don’t be foolish…use your common sense.
Number thee- Cancun is here for the tourism…you are taken care of!!!
Clubs- Bulldog, The City, Coco Bongo, Senor Frog’s, Dady’o and many, many others all cater to tourist.
Your hotel is around Km16 and most of the clubs are around Km 9 just a bus or taxi ride away.
Have a great vacation!

Mark asks…
Hotetur Beach Paradise All Inclusive in Cancun, Mexico!?
Has anyone ever stayed at the Hotetur Beach Paradise in Cancun, Mexico. I was thinking about planning a vacation in June and staying here. If anyone has stayed here… how did you like it? Any tips for traveling to Cancun would help to. Thanks!

Emil answers:
They will give you ideas for fun too like:
Definately the Swim with Dolphins, this is fantastic especially if you go to Dolphin Discovery on Isla Mujeres, as you have a 40 minute boat ride there and back with open bar and entertainment.
The Captain Hook Pirate ships are another fun thing to try.
A Jungle tour through the mangroves, with snorkelling over the Coral reefs.
If you´re into diving, then Call Ben Mooney at http://www.mayanaquadive.com as he knows some great dive sites.
Xcaret is a wonderful day out, as you get to enjoy an ecopark, with dolphins, turtles ect and then get to watch probably the best show in the whole of Mexico at night.
A catamaran trip with http://www.cancuncatamarans.com is a must, a day sailing and snorkeling, with buffet lunch on Isla Mujeres, open bar, a shopping trip and the chance to have your picture taken holding a live shark.
At night, try the Cancun Party Hopper, there are now 2 different versions going to different bars, and they are great fun.
Car rental at http://www.cancuncar.com
Hope this helps.

Linda asks…
Cancun travel?
We’re going to Cancun next march break and we want to plan ahead. Accomodation is already taken care of because my uncle lives there, but what about activities, restaurants, and shopping plazas? Are there any tips about traveling there.
I lived in mexico for a while, but cancun is a new experience. Are there any good websites I can check out for all the info?
My mom, dad, and sister would all be going.
I’m 15, my sister is 22.

Emil answers:
There are many fun things to do in Cancun. Http://www.cancun.com
has a list of most of the tours available. There is a new 4×4 adventure jungle tour that the entire family would enjoy. You can get information for this by send email to info@yaajximbal.com.mx…..telephone number is 998-892-7580. The office is located in Plaza Mexico Avenue Tulum. You visit the cenotes (natural wells) and learn a lot about the Mayan culture. You also go in caves and do some snorkeling. It is an all day tour and food is provided. Make sure you let them know that Josue Garcia suggested this tour. Isla Mujures is a good place to visit. Good restaurants………way too many to list. A lot of excellent restaurants in the downtown area and Margaritaville is great for the entire family. A lot of fun activities going on there all the time. Carlos and Charlies is also fun. The Captain Hook dinner cruise is fun…dinner and a show. Playa del Carmen and Cozumel are also good places to visit.

Nancy asks…
best tips for traveling to Mexico in AUG.?
for instance…bring money that is already converted into mexican money..less stress..
travel with men because its safer…things like that?
first time going, ill be traveling to Cancun staying at the Riu Caribe with 3 guys all relatives…
can u bring pepper spray into mexico tho? i heard a few horror stories recently…
Thank you for all your help!!

Emil answers:
Cancun is very nice. A lot of timeshare resorts there so you have a lot of opportunity to find timeshare rental opportunities. Also, if you get in to a timeshare presentation you should get further discounts or even a room stay for attending a few hours of presentation to buy timeshare even if you don’t buy one.

Ken asks…
What is the typical weather condition(s) in Cancun, Mexico in early November?
I know I can easily just search this online but I want personal experiences please! I may be traveling there in November if not maybe April of this year. Which month is best to travel when there aren’t as many travelers? Any other tips or recommendations to make my trip worth while?

Emil answers:
November is one of my favorite times of year here, extending into just before the holidays (and tourists) arrive around Dec 20th. The scorching heat of the summer and fall is gone and the nights begin to get cooler. The past November was beautiful. Hurricane season is almost over by then and the chances of getting hit by one are exceedingly slim. I’d be sure to have a sweater and at least one pair of long pants as the evening temps and breezes can chill you quickly.
If you can’t go then, April would be my second choice as well as the spring break travelers have thinned out a bit and the weather isn’t yet dreadfully hot.

Donald asks…
How Safe is it to travel to Cancun right now?
Wanting to go to Mexico, but I havn’t been there for 12 years. Has it changed?? I only plan on going from the airport to an all inclusive resort. I am not leaving the resort. Has anyone been there within the last year. Any tips for me?

Emil answers:
Its safe, I was there for a whole year, go on the trip trust me it’ll be fun.

Lizzie asks…
Tips/Advice for traveling alone as a woman in Mexico?
I’m planning a trip to Puerto Morelos, Mexico a small fishing town south of Cancun and was wondering about advice that could be offered or thoughts, etc.

Emil answers:
Be smart, but there’s no need to get overly concerned by the scare stories.
It’s not that big a deal, as long as you’re smart.
It certainly helps if you speak the language. And just be smart – don’t do things to draw a lot of attention to yourself. For example, don’t wear flashy jewelry, don’t carry a lot of cash or valuables with you when you go out, dress simply and modestly, be aware of where you are, always know where you are going (get directions beforehand), if you’re going to be drinking – be careful not to get intoxicated.
How do you plan to get around Puerto Morelos? If you’re walking, be sure to stick to areas you’re comfortable with (you may ask the hotel about this). If you’re taking a taxi, be sure to use only taxi services OK’d by the hotel (don’t hail cabs off the street). If you’re taking a public bus, be sure you understand which bus you need to take, and where you need to get off (you say “Baja” in order to request a stop).
Many women travel alone in Mexico, especially in the tourist regions. Mexico is a very friendly country and people who work in the tourism industry are usually very happy to assist travelers and share advice. In fact, I’ve always found it quite easy to travel alone as a woman. For the past couple of years I’ve traveled into Mexico with just my infant son and, for example, while traveling through airports I love that there are men who for a small tip are able to help with luggage. (Man, I wish we had that in the States!)
You might even find other women who are traveling alone when you get there, and then perhaps you could arrange to site-see together. Or, maybe you’re just looking to be by yourself. Either way, you should be fine, as long as you’re a smart traveler.
Relax and have fun.

Your Questions About Las Vegas Travel Tips

Nancy asks…
Does anyone have any travel tips for X-Country travel from Las Vegas to S.Carolina?
Me and my best friend will be traveling cross country be car from Las Vegas, NV to Greenville, SC at the end of August. We were thinking that we would stop at two points of interest for some fun…perhaps Mesa Verde, AZ, and Graveland in Memphis, TN. Any other suggestions for points of interest? Routes?

Emil answers:
Depends on what you like. I am quite familiar with the drive. Here are a couple ideas…remember that you will be on US 40 for the majority of the drive.
Try Flagstaff Arizona and Sedona (including the Grand Canyon)…you won’t forget it for the rest of your life. Sedona is just 20 miles south of Flagstaff and is considered the most beautiful part of the Southwest.
Memphis is a great idea…stick with it…and you might like Nashville too if you like Country music…it is very pretty there at night.
Other thoughts: If you get a chance and don’t mind getting off 40 again…try Taos New Mexico….outdoorsy…green….pretty…lots of outdoorsy things. Also it is 1 hour from Sante Fe which is my top two favorite places to visit in the US. (Sedona is first)
In North Carolina …(before you go south on 95) try Emerald Point for great Water Park Relief. It is right off of 40 and is a great way to spend the day in Greensboro, NC.
Also….Asheville NC is beautiful. Try going to Biltmore Estate for food, wine…gorgeous place. Just google it.
There are lots of things to do…;but these stand out in my mind.

Michael asks…
i’m going to arizona and las vegas next week…travel tips?
i’m traveling with kids with ages 15, 14, 12.
we’re not from around the area…any tips about theme parks, restaurants, grand canyon…?
thanks a lot

Emil answers:
I would recommend Circus Circus also, Most other Las Vegas hotels aren’t kid friendly. Phoenix has a variety of places to go to: The Phoenix Zoo, Castles ‘n’ Coasters, Big Surf, Golf Land Sun Splash, Game Works (arcade),Dave and Busters (arcade), malls and north and south of Phoenix there are outlet malls.
Look for a timeshare rental as an alternative to staying in a hotel. Great prices for fabulous accommodations.

Mark asks…
I am planning a Las Vegas trip for 2 people in 2 states in September do you have any money saving travel tips?
This will be my first time going to vegas I live in Florida and my Mom lives in Michigan. I want to surprise her in September with this trip. We will be leaving from each of our separate airports and I would like for us to arrive around the same time. I would appreciate any travel tips anyone has about deals , hotel , car rentals, must do things while there, best hotels. Thank you !

Emil answers:
It would be much cheaper to stay off the strip, but you still may want to stay close. Walk rather than take a cab or pubic transportation. I wouldn’t rent a car. Because you don’t want to drive in Vegas especially near the strip and NEVER on the strip. I made the mistake and was stuck for a very long time in traffic.
Other than that, for accomodations if you want something nice with less money, check out timeshare rentals in the area.

John asks…
What are some good tips about traveling in Las Vegas?
I am going to Las Vegas in the coming weeks and would like to know where some tips about gamblng, hotels, nightlife, dinning, shows, what to avoid and more.

Every 20minutes! (11am – 12am)
Sirens of T.I – Treasure Island Hotel
5:30 pm, 7:00 pm, 8:30 pm and 10:30 pm
Experience a Rainstrom – Miracle Mile in Planet Hollywood Hotel

Other that that..
Venetian – has very nice Italian style-setting. Ride the Gondola, it can be very nice.
Caesars Palace – has the place set as if you were in the Ancient-Rome. It also has a good shopping place! And check out their Atlantis show right by the arcades!
Bellagio – The Garden, very nice picture spot on the inside right by the lobby, they change the theme according seasons! Also they have the biggest chocolate fountains in the world!
Mandala Bay – Aquarium that 12,200 gallons of water with tropical fish and sharks too!
Circus Circus – has a whole floor level for arcade games (The Midway) where you can play for cheap and win prizes! And they also have an indoor-theme park, The Adventure Dome, where they have rides and other arcade games! Check out the free Circus Acts also, right above the casino level!
Luxor – has a very nice egyptian theme, and you can take a picture with the Sphinx and the pyramid in the background. (right outside the hotel)
Paris – go up the Eiffel Tower, it’s not too high but you can still get a great view of the city.
Strathosphere – go up to the Strathosphere tower and it has a really nice beautiful view from up top. Plus, there are some roller-coaster rides up there too, but if you’re afraid of heights, I wouldn’t recommend it.
The Mirage – has a very beautiful Tropical Forest, and Coral Reef Aquarium and their infamous White Tigers!
Flamingo Hotel – very nice wildlifes from around the world, they have the garden filled with exotic birds, ucks, penguins, swans, turtles, koi and of course the Chilean flamingos.
MGM – lion habitat!
New York New York – they have a memorial spot for the September 11 remberance right infront of the Statue of the Liberty. Also they have a roller coaster that cost $12 per ride!
Also on the strip, right across NewYork NewYork, there’s a big M&M’s store. If you’re a big M&M’s lover, it’s the best store for you. Next to it, there’s a big Coca-Cola store, and Gameworks somewhere near too!
Okay, I hope that helps!
Have a fun trip!

Chris asks…
guys i am going to go to las vegas, any tips since i am decided to travel by bus?
its a hassle by airplane, my question is about hotel, and car rental pricing such stuff that visitors don’t know, best answer will win a favor from me

Emil answers:
You can still get the cheapest hotel rates by going to expedia or travelocity.Stay at the Mirage it is so nice there and they have a tropical atrium downstairs you can sit there and have cocktails.Thier bloody Marys are the best. Also the mirage is right across the street from food and a really cool wax museum. You can add car rental to your package.I would add on the red rocks tour you ride in a 4X4 it’s incredible they pick you up right at the Mirage.
Check out some timeshare rentals if you want nicer accommodations at some good prices. Hilton Grand Vacations is a good choice.

Carol asks…
Traveling to Las Vegas in November, any tips?
I’m traveling to Vegas for a wedding (not mine) and have never been there before.
Any tips for recent travelers? Where to stay, play, eat on a budget?
I don’t plan to gamble and want to find some other things to do.

Emil answers:
I’ve done Vegas on a budget so it is possible. Especially if you are interested in not gambling and just want nice relaxing accommodations, timeshare rentals would be a good bet. If you plan to be out a lot and not in your hotel room, it just depends if you’re the type of person who can collapse anywhere or want to come back to a nice lush accommodation. Hilton Grand Vacations is a nice choice in Las Vegas

Introduction To Timeshares And RCI Timeshares
Back in the 1960′s, a ski resort developer in the French Alps came up with an idea to motivate his patrons to continue to return to his resort each year. He encouraged many of his customers to purchase “fractional” ownerships at his resort instead of simply renting each year they came on vacation.
From this idea, revenue, attendance, and popularity boomed at his ski resort. The rest of the world was quick to catch on and started offering their own fractional ownership opportunities. Thus, the industry of timeshare ownership was born.
Since its inception, the timeshare industry continues to grow with sales of 9 billion dollars annually among more than 5,000 resorts.
Through the years, the use of timeshares has evolved and gave birth to many options available to the owner. Here are some of the options:
1. Use of timeshare week
Owners purchase a week out of the year at a resort. So the most basic use of a timeshare is for the owner to use it for their annual vacation.
2. Timeshare rentals
Over the years, timeshare rental increased in frequency due to the accommodation needs of travelers and adventurers. Along with demand comes opportunity for business men owning timeshares but not necessarily always needing them.
3. Timeshares as gifts
Naturally owners can also give their week at a vacation resort away as a gift. This makes for a great gift to family, friends, and even business partners.
4. Exchanging A Timeshare
Exchanges have answered the desire to own a timeshare but have the flexibility to not be locked in to a specific week or a specific destination. Exchanges can be done in two ways:
a. Internal exchange
This is a “within network” type of exchange. Generally timeshares belong to a group and exchanges within that group are considered “internal exchanges”.
This means exchanging your timeshare with a person from another resort group.
b. External exchange
This is an “out of network” type of exchange. If you belong to resort group A and desire to obtain a timeshare in resort group B, then this would be an external exchange.
An internal exchange is naturally easier and less of a headache as well as less cost then doing an external exchange.

The RCI Timeshare organization is the largest worldwide which gives a lot of great options for the timeshare owner
One of the largest timeshare groups is the Resort Condominiums International group, or RCI. I am specifically writing about this as many people have heard of RCI and are usually looking for more objective information.
RCI Timeshare
A RCI timeshare owner has the option of exchanging his timeshare interval for a possible stay at one of the five thousand resorts available worldwide. A RCI timeshare owner also have varied resort affiliations. Members of this program of RCI can, however, only exchange with the affiliate resorts of RCI. A RCI timeshare is only available for exchange to a RCI resort.
Also, at the current status of the affiliation programs, there is no dual affiliation for a RCI timeshare. A particular resort would only be either affiliated with RCI or not.
RCI is the largest exchange agency. It has over 3,800 resorts under its turf; divided between its available weeks or Points Program. Compared to the 2,000 resorts of the second largest, Interval International, or II. What this means is if you own an RCI timeshare, you have many more options when doing an internal exchange.
So if you are looking right now at timeshares, and you want a lot of flexibility in your travel dates and locations, RCI is definitely worth checking out. As an example, my wife and I purchased our Honolulu timeshare with Hilton. We plan to take a vacation almost every year in Honolulu so this type of ownership worked for us.
On the other hand, our grandmother loves taking vacations to new places every year. This past year she had a luxurious stay in Las Vegas. The year before she took a cruise to the Riviera. If this is you, then having a large exchange program at your disposal is more suited for your lifestyle, and RCI timeshare ownership may be just the thing you’re looking for.
Your Questions About Florida Vacation Homes Tips

Nancy asks…
Does anyone have any travel tips for driving to Florida with a 4 year old?
I will be driving from RI to FL in April for vacation. There are 9 of us going altogether. My son is four years old and I am wondering is any one has any travel tips for me??? Oh- we are driving down in a very large motor home with TV’s and DVD’s. I appreciate your help

Emil answers:
Sounds like fun. With a TV and DVD, all that I can think to add to entertain your son would be some books and small toys. I might plan on making a few extra stops so he gets to actually see some of the sights along the way. It will give you things to discuss with him during the drive and also long after your vacation has ended.

Joseph asks…
How to overcome a fear of flying?
I am deathly scared of flying. When I find out I have to fly somewhere, even motnhs before, I start to panic. As the flight gets closer I start to freak out and the day of, I am a total mess. My heart races, I shake, and throughout the entire flight I am very tense. The take-off and landing are the worst.
The problem is I’m flying down to Florida in July and I don’t want to go through all the drama on the day of the flight. I want to stay calm and have a good time on my vacation, not worrying about when I have to fly back home.
Any tips on how to overcome my fear?

Emil answers:
They say the best way to get over a fear is to face it head on. Having lived with a near-paralyzing fear of spiders my entire life, I used to think that was a load of crap! Turns out there’s actually something to it. I started by forcing myself not to close my eyes or look away whenever I saw a spider on tv. I’m still at that stage, lol, but I can honestly say I can watch a spider on tv now without feeling like my skin is going to crawl right off my body and, for me, that’s HUGE.
It starts with accepting that there really isn’t anything to be afraid of. You have a FAR greater likelihood of being killed in a car accident, but I’m sure you don’t fear riding in a car? I know, easier said than done, but this really is all about changing your mindset. You CAN do it.
I’m not telling you to dive in headfirst. You can try to make it easier by requesting a seat away from a window, and TELL your flight attendant that flying makes you anxious. They are trained to deal with nervous flyers and will try to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Some people say that a simple, heartfelt “how are you doing?” from a crew member once in a while can help them feel at ease. Bring some books or magazines to help keep your mind occupied. Also, you could always ask your doctor to prescribe a mild sedative for the flight. Just make sure someone will be picking you up at your destination so that you won’t have to drive.
If you think your fear is bad enough, you could even try hypnotherapy. It works wonders for some people. I knew a girl in college who had a fear of bees that was so bad she would literally cry and rock herself after an encounter with one. After she saw a hypnotherapist, her fear was reduced dramatically.

Lisa asks…
Heard of Homes4uu….?
I am going to rent a vacation home in Florida for a week. The only problem is they will charge me more money to see a specific house (they feel the need to reserve that house in particular I guess). I do not know exactly what we will be renting. Only an idea from general website pictures and descriptions of it being in an upscale neighborhood near the Disney World resort.
Has anyone rented from this place or have any tips? I really don’t want to pay extra per night just for them to send me photos. They have an A- on the Better Business Report.
homes4uu.com

Emil answers:
I am not familiar with them, but the rating would make me feel fairly good about them. However, I have rented from a few different companies in Orlando, and I have never not known exactly where I was going to be staying. That’s weird – that would make me nervous.
If you are interested, the favorite company I have ever used is http://www.allstarvacationhomes.com and they are endorsed by http://www.allearsnet.com which is a premier Disney planning website.
Just remember to wash your face twice a day and try not to touch your face or let your hair fall on your face.
I know you don’t want products, but if nothing works try Proactiv.

Laura asks…
Help planning vacation in southeast US for December!!?
Planning my four year anniversary vacation. I live in Charleston, SC. I want to travel as close to home as possible because we are on a budget. I am considering Tennessee, Georgia, maybe North Carolina, or anywhere within that radius. Originally, I had planned on booking our trip for Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, TN, but even though it is beautiful there in December, it seemed a little more boring than I remembered. I am considering Savannah, GA, but am not sure what to do/where to stay. Also, I am not really interested in going to Florida, and beaches are not really of interest, but will be considered. I want to try and keep the accomodations under $100/night if possible. It will be a Thursday-Saturday trip, so I want it to be a romantic weekend but nothing too cheesy. I like the idea of a king size bed and a hot tob. Something quiet where we can relax and have privacy. We want to avoid anything too crowded or family oriented. We love trying out new restaurants and night life would be a plus. We will probably spend a lot of time in our hotel/lodging just relaxing so this is the most important thing. I would like something more luxurious, but I’ve been overwhelmed with choices. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! If you’ve stayed in any of these locations and have tips, please share!
Thanks for all the help!!
Erica
I did look at several cabins most of the cheaper ones for couples honestly didn’t appeal to me. The furniture looked old and that whole rustic decor kinda turned me off. The nicer, more updated cabins were a little more expemsive, and I was ok with that, but by the time you add cleaning fees and tax that’s another $100. At this point I think I would prefer a nice luxury hotel, preferably with room service and a jacuzzi in the room.

Savannah sounds like it would be a great choice. Ashville, NC might be nice too. There’s also Jeckyll Island, Tybee Island in GA, or even Atlanta. Also think of timeshare rental in Florida. Great deal for the money for great accomodations

Me and a few friends are planning a trip to nyc in sept. but we’d prefer not to stay in an over priced hotel and chill in the city like local new yorkers. Emil answers:

Anyone know of any vacation rentals or family sized suites near Seasme Place?
We went last year, stayed at the Radisson and had a good experience. But this year we think Grandma and Papa might come along so we were interested in any vacation rentals or large suites in the area. I can’t find anything.

Emil answers:
If you mean Sesame Place in Langhorne, Pa., I’m not sure that is considered enough of a desirable travel destination (no offense) to have a high vacation rental industry.
There is a Residence Inn in the area though:

You may want to try that.

I checked around and you might want to look at Redweek.com or some other site that sells unused timeshare space, there are a few timeshares in the city. Check out this article just to find out more on what a timeshare is so you know what you’re renting

Robert asks…
Does anybody know some websites for cheap vacation rentals?
I’m looking for condo or home vacation rentals in Orlando for cheap for under $150 for during christmas and new years, I’ve been checking out ebay and sky auction.

Emil answers:
Try Vacation Home Rentals. They have a lot of rentals available – not sure about pricing. You can also check out Craigslist in Florida since a lot of timeshare owners post about renting their timeshare on Craigslist.

Your questions about timeshare vacation

Nancy asks…
timeshare vacation?
can i do a timeshare vacation for a cruise

Emil answers:
Yes.
Exchanges companies such as Interval International and RCI would exchange your timeshare week for a cruise. However sometimes is really hard to get the exchange and when you do usually is not worth the amount of points or weeks they ask for it.
Another idea is that if you are a timeshare owner your best move is to check with this companies to see if they have any “special” on cruises, usually they are cheap.

William asks…
How much time do you get with a timeshare vacation condo?
A neighbor owns a vacation timeshare condo in TX. They have spent about 5 months off and on at this place this year. The rules say they get one week per year. When I asked about that she says they have bonus time but won’t go into details. Is it really possible to get that much time? How does that work? Thanks!

Emil answers:
You get as many weeks as you buy. You buy a timeshare by the week. You can also rent other peoples weeks if they are available.

Linda asks…
has anyone ever been on a timeshare vacation?
Like when they want you to buy a timeshare so they send you down there for vacation? what was it like?

Emil answers:
Timeshare presentations can last 90 minutes. Sometimes they can last two hours. So from there consider how much you are getting “paid” for with your free room. If you would ordinarily be paying $200 a night for the room and you are getting three nights paid, that is $600 to attend a 90 minute presentation. For me that is worth it. And in fact that is what happened when we went to our fifth timeshare presentation (and we actually purchased it too!).

Donna asks…
Can not paying on my Vacation Club Timeshare legally be a foreclosure?
The company is located in Florida, but the timeshare is in Missouri. Can not paying on a timeshare in a vacation club type deal be reported on my credit legally as a foreclosure?

Emil answers:
Yes, they can foreclose on your property (that being your ownership in the time share). However, due to how hard it is to sell a timeshare, you may have an easier time negotiating your way out of the situation. You need to call your timeshare company to see what you can do. If you aren’t currently behind, you might want to look into trying to sell it, but it won’t be easy.
